Planning a wedding is always a big and daunting task. Many couples ask “when should I book a Celebrant?”. Knowing when to book is key to having the ceremony that you want.
The best time to start looking is straight away. All Marriage Celebrants do weddings differently so doing your research is key. Touch base with your preferred Celebrant and have the date and time (if known) ready to make sure they are available or to work out a date which suits you both.
By the time you have secured your venue and/or date you need to make contact the Celebrant of your choice. It is not uncommon for Celebrants to have dates booked more than 2 years in advance. Make sure you put a deposit payment down lock them in. Deposits are usually between 10% to 50% of the total cost.
You will also need to have the Notice of Intended Marriage completed with your Celebrant. This needs to be done within 18 months of your wedding but NO LATER than 1 month prior to your ceremony. Your celebrant will help you get this filled out and submitted.
